The Human Bean - Keizer, Oregon

The Human Bean - Keizer is directly influenced by the organization’s mission to be “rooted in relationships and growing on a vision of global betterment”. The concept for this space was informed by the process of making coffee - from growing the beans to pouring a latte. The design highlights the role The Human Bean plays in stewardship of coffee growers and makers.

With the goal of creating a familiar and comfortable environment, the team took a genuine approach to material and form for this space, using colors and textures evoking the rustic qualities of coffee farming, while balancing it with clean and inviting characteristics of a modern coffee shop. In the café there are a variety of seating types employed to create a comfortable environment for both social interaction and personal reflection. A mural was developed and implemented by GMA Architects as an expression of Human Bean’s mission.
