GMA Architects is a community of designers and architects in Eugene and Portland, Oregon working collaboratively to Make Better.  

At GMA, Interior Designers work on a variety of project types and sizes including public, hospitality, healthcare, housing, and education. We foster a hands-on studio culture that values environmental and social responsibility, transparency, and commitment to quality design and quality service. As Lead interior designer you will take a leadership role within the office by providing creative direction on projects and helping to guide and mentor project teams to deliver personalized, well-intentioned spaces, and experiences.  

The description below outlines the general qualities we are looking for in a Lead Interior Designer. However, we are most interested in candidates with the ambition to contribute to a common vision of inclusion, meaningful design, humility, and collaboration. Location: Eugene, Oregon

Preferred start date: June 1st, 2026 (flexible)

Compensation: Commensurate with experience; includes benefits and personal time

Education and Experience

Bachelor's or Master’s degree from an accredited program, or equivalent professional experience

5-10 years of industry experience in an architect's office preferred, candidates with more or less experience will be considered

Experience with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office Suite  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities‍ ‍

  1. Ability to understand design problems and quickly work through design iterations

  2. Provide clear project oversight and guide project team members from initial concepts through Construction Administration

  3. Thorough understanding of material and furniture selection, detailing, and specification for diverse project types

  4. Competence with space planning and code

  5. Collaborate with consultants to meet design and technical goals

  6. Ability to communicate design concepts in a compelling way through client-facing presentations, writing, and visual means

  7. Ensure client satisfaction through cohesive, thoughtful, and enduring designs that align with client’s goals, budget, and timeline

  8. Knowledge and continued interest in industry standards and trends, best practices, and codes/regulations

  9. Self-motivated with strong organization and time management skills

  10. Be an active listener and work collaboratively on project teams; foster a community design culture
